OU students have the opportunity to completely integrate themselves into Mexican culture and university life, as well as increase their fluency in Spanish.  UPAEP's international programs include a variety of curricular options for OU students, depending on their level of Spanish. Students with basic Spanish language skills can take intensive Spanish language courses during the semester and full-year programs. Advanced Spanish language students who have successfully completed SPAN 3423 or its equivalent may take regular courses with other UPAEP students in a wide variety of areas.  Academic programs at UPAEP exist in many fields, including architecture and design, health sciences (including a strong dentistry program), journalism, business, philosophy, education and engineering.  UPAEP also has an optional service-learning program for international students as part of the curriculum. An increasing number of courses in English are being added to the UPAEP curriculum for international students.  A language placement exam is required for all international students coming to UPAEP.  A number of OU students will be able to take a free pre-term two week intensive Spanish language program before the semester begins.

Money Matters

Since this program is a University Exchange program you will pay OU tuition/fees and insurance to your OU Bursar, and housing/meals/immigration documents will be paid to your host country. UPAEP Budget Estimate.

There are number of scholarships available for study abroad students. Below is a partial list to get you started!

Most international students who come to UPAEP for a semester or year choose to live in the international dormitories, which are just a couple of blocks from the main campus. Click here to learn more about the "residencia" or dormitory option.  It is also possible to live with a Mexican host family.  One of the most integral parts of the Spanish Immersion Program is staying with a host family. Students are encouraged to participate in the customs and mealtimes of their host family, although the degree to which each student integrates into family life depends on the student's interest in doing so. Students are placed in homes a short walk or bus ride from the university and are provided a personal room, breakfast and dinners during weekdays, additional lunches for Friday field trips, and 3 meals a day on Sunday. In addition, most home stays have internet access.   UPAEP will provide students with the names of host families in their database that are a good fit for individual students, and from there students work directly with the host family on the details.
